WHO WE ARE
A TOP INDEPENDENT SEED PRODUCER IN THE NATION PRODUCING 2% OF THE U.S. SEED CORN SUPPLY.
We at Lord’s Seed (LLT Group LLC) have evolved from a small family operation to one of the top independent seed producers in the nation. We produce approximately 2% of the U.S. supply of seed corn, in addition to growing soybeans and hay.
We are capable of growing maturities ranging from 75 to 115 days, and have the ability to produce 200,000 to 600,000 units of seed. Soybean seed production is another aspect of our company, in which we can clean and treat at our dryer facility. Currently available is a single pass reversible with 20,000 one time fill that will double in 2020.
our services
Production Research
We continue to increase our efforts in understanding how inbred seed corn, hybrid seed corn and soybeans respond in our Northern Indiana location using irrigation. We screen 1,200 different inbred lines each season taking over 40 different data points of information on each inbred. Our team also provides research for hire for companies looking for some of the same information. This effort has been ongoing since 1990.
Full Service Conditioning
Seed conditioning prepares the harvested seed for market. We are pleased to be able to have conditioning partnership facilities in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, as well as, Michigan and Indiana.
Drying Facility
Recently we acquired additional equipment to expand our seed corn processing plant in Orland, Indiana. Other expansions include the recently assembled and built portions for husking beds, conveyors, dust collection, scale and dump pit modifications. This has helped meet the growing needs of our customers.
Warehousing
Each planting season, our 66,000 square foot Brighton Warehouse is buzzing with activity. Here we store, bag, and tag the seed ready for distribution. Our staff if dedicated to achieving a quality level of service for all our customers.
Crops - Corn & Soybean
Lord’s Seed is located in the I-80 corridor; in the largest seed corn production area of the world. Our growing environment allows for a growth span zone of 75 – 115 day maturity. One hundred percent of our seed corn is irrigated. The soil here is light which makes it conducive to ideal seed corn production. We are a major supplier of both waxy and high-oil seed corn. Our customers range from some of the smallest to some of the largest retailers in the industry. We package our product in various ways, including bulk, bagged, RIB, ProBox or EZFlo.
Cover Crops & Specialty Lots
We have a cover crop program in place to help us continue to be good stewards of the soil. Our main cover crops are oats and rye with each having its own advantages. We also offer a specialty lot program (called LSSL) for small lot production, which is managed by Ryan Seymour, that targets inbred increases and pilots. Our breeding program works with some of the nation’s largest seed corn companies. We also have a counter cyclical production in South America. All of our specialty production is inspected by Indiana Crop Improvement which makes them available for certification and OECD status.
OUR PROMISE
In our business, we strive to provide quality agricultural products to our customers. Our company’s name is important to us and we focus on building a legacy of hard work, generosity, and financial stability to our local community.
